AGM 2025
Also…. If the handicaps have not changed much it means a lot of 1-1 draws which means competitive. Who wants to turn up every week for a drubbing…. Also from a personal point of view I want a challenge every Tuesday not an easy win (or easy loss) and I’m giving 40 and now 50 most weeks.
A couple of proposals from me.
I would like to propose a "man of the match" is nominated for each team by the opposing teams captain each match. Due to the handicap system so many games are drawn nowadays, so it would be good to still be able to recognise great performances and matches. Maybe a high break was made, or someone completed a pressure clearance to keep the team in the league title, or someone just performed way better than their handicap that week and won convincingly 2-0. The person with the most man of the matches has some recognition at the end of the season, perhaps this could replace player of the season.
I would also like to propose that the Handicap shootout aligns with the Plate competition and is entry only for 0 and above handicap players and not a ranking competition. Only a couple of minus handicap players entered the last one anyway and I think having a ranking competition that is handicapped is a bit of an anomaly anyway. With it being its own thing it should probably have its own trophy.

Not to be discussed on this thread anymore so let’s see what the thoughts are at the AGM
I guess the question that needs to be asked is are we more interested in sustainability or quality, I’m for the latter although I’m on the decline at my age nowadays 
I had thoughts of running a scratch and handicap alongside each other. You play a handicap frame and a scratch frame. Run two league tables. Just couldn't work out how to go about it with one table clubs

U could play half the season with handicaps,and other half off scratch
I would like to propose the following for our tournaments:
Rileys Plate, remains the same, SCR and below (it's important to back our ONLY snooker club in the city)
Handicap Tournament, remains the same using league handicaps
Aberdeen singles, handicapped event using league handicaps
Derek Hearns Memorial, no longer scratch, handicapped using the league handicaps. (Reason, Derek was a huge advocate of getting people playing and helping players. He'd be so proud of this event and I feel EVERYONE should pull out all the stops to enter this one on memory of a special player and man)
Interclubs, as the name suggests, change the location of the event every season and go around the clubs to give it a fresh feel every year. Played off SCRATCH.
North of Scotland, our most prestigious event, played off SCRATCH. Keep it at our premier location, Culter.

- Competitions: £20 for entry to all comps or £5 per comp. Shootout, Doubles and Team cup not included.
Comps for 2026
- North of Scotland, Interclubs, Derek Hearns Memorial, Aberdeen Singles, Scratch Shootout, Plate, Ian Wallace doubles, handicap.
- Team Registration: increase to £120 per team.
- Team cup rules: Must have 6 players or concede frames.
- League game rule: each player can if needed play twice (once per season) only if 5 players available. If less than 5 or all players have played twice then frames are forfeited.
Proposals:
- League games start 6:30 instead of 7pm. Many clubs closing earlier.
- Introduce Singles league to run all season separately.
- Move League night to a Mon or Wed in attempt to open up opportunities for pool players to play in snooker league.
- Scrap handicaps for league games.
- Play first half season with handicap and second half without handicap
- Introduce a handicap banding system so those in same banding play off scratch.
- Introduce Man of Match each league night. Recognise at end of season those with most MOM.
- introduce league handicap to Aberdeen Singles and Derek Hearns comps.
- Scrap Handicap shootout but keep scratch shootout.

Can I propose tables brushed and iron before all matches including comp matches
Players looking for advantage with slow tables is just not cricket
Points for discussion at the AGM:
- Return to one ranking table in the league spreadsheet, including players handicap! The current two sheet system is un-necessary and generally leads to confusion with a system which is difficult to navigate on mobile phones.
- Duscuss the popularity of running the Hugh Nimmo Billiards comp.
With the proposal to increase league entry fee by £20, if this goes through then I propose that the Counties funding be scrapped.
