Aberdeen Snooker Shootout
Quote from Monsoon111 on January 31, 2023, 1:32 pmWe plan to hold our version of the snooker shootout (depending on interest). Dates would be weekend of 18th and 19th March. Would be played at Culter plus potentially another club if number of entries are high.
Rules:
One frame only
Open draw after each round
Handicap as per league
Object ball or cue ball must hit a cushion (no rolling up to reds or colour).
A foul shot will mean opponent can place white anywhere by hand.
Frame ends if someone needs more than one snooker.
This will be a ranking event with 5 points for winner, 3 points for runner up, 2 points for semi finalists and 1 point for Quarter finalists.
Entry will be £2 per head.
Prize money and a trophy to winner and money for runner up.
Please post your interest on this forum before 1st March.
Hopefully will be a fun event.

Quote from Murr on February 1, 2023, 10:07 amThinking out loud I’d say once the finer details have been thought about it would be an advantage to have two clubs close together if needed.
If entries are large for this and with the open draw players might find themselves playing frames in both clubs and will have to travel back and for between them.
Sportsman’s would be an ideal venue as they have the 3 tables there.

Quote from AlecMain on February 1, 2023, 10:59 amAnother idea to ponder - rather than a shot clock could do a frame clock so no frame exceeds 25 mins and that way you should be able to maintain a schedule ( 2 matches an hour with 5 mins between frames to set up balls change over players etc..) should make for a bit more aggression from the player behind when time starts running out?

Yeh hopefully.
Might be a chicken and egg scenario though. Entries might depend on the finer details to see if guys can/will enter. 🤷🏼♂️
