Team Cup 2017-18 - Entry list and Draw - Updated

Craig Smith and Davie Thomson kicked things off for Transport 1 against Vince Milne and John Gordon from Transport 2. Transport 1 went 1-0 up Craig winning the first frame comfortably. John levelled the scores for Transport 2 taking the first frame against Davie. Vince hit back with the help of a 26 break to put Transport 2 2-1 up. Scores were level again at 2-2 when John went in off the black to hand their 2nd frame to Davie. Another black ball fight won by Transport 1 saw them go 3-2 in-front with Stuart Garden this time the victor with the help of a 29 break. Dave Sullivan brought the overall score level again at 3-3 when taking the opening frame against Captain Lenny Mutch. Stuart completed his 2-0 win in another tight frame against Andy Allan to put Transport 1 back in-front at 4-3. Then the turning point of the whole match when it looked like possibly going 4-4, Dave was unlucky to leave the black in the jaws of the pocket as it almost dropped for 4-4, Lenny slotted it home to build up a 2 frame advantage for Transport 1 at 5-3. Harry Hall completed the victory first of all with a brilliant cross-double black against Les to go 6-3 up, and then after a safety battle in frame 2, smashed home a long blue to win the cup for his side, final score 7-3. Gavin McRobb and Murray Allan played out what by now was a dead rubber opening frame, and Gavin took it again on the black.

As you can see it really could've gone either way with Transport 1 winning the tight frames to make the margin of victory a bit flattering in what was a close contest throughout. Big well done to Lenny and his team in taking the Cup, and commiserations to Graham and his side running out plucky Runners-Up.

Because earlier in the season it got casted up to us (Oldmachar Team) by Transport 1 that we didn’t congratulate them for winning the league last season here’s our recognition of them for winning the Team Cup.

Better late than never 😉

We were buckled with laughter when we turned up at your place last week to find that photo plastered all round the snooker room.

I don’t know how we’re going to top that one. Another t shirt maybe??
