Obituary Notice: Sandy Masson
Devastated to hear the news about Sandy. He was a tough competitor on the table but an absolute gent. My thoughts are with his wife and family at this very difficult time.
A gentleman on the table and such a lovely guy that loved his snooker. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time. It wont be the same going to Culter mills and not seeing him there.
Saddened to hear about Sandy, must have known him for close to 38 years through the snooker along with many others who are still playing the game.
My introduction to him was a game back in the days of the RAF club where I played him. This was back in the day when home advantage WAS an advantage, everytime he run into trouble without a pot on he would just play you to the part of the table where you had about three and a half foot between table & wall. No matter how much you tried you just couldn’t get down to play a shot. He would just stand there & say there’s a small cue over in the rack (Which was about 3ft) with a wry smile on his face 😏
RIP Sandy you were one of the good guys mate!

Just had a message from Sandy’s wife, Maureen saying that there will be a celebration of Sandy’s life on Thursday 11 December 13:00 at Culter Mills Club (cremation will be private). No dress code as such, all welcome.
The announcement will also be in tomorrow’s Evening Express.

Just to pass on a message of thanks from Maureen and apologies if she didn’t get around to speaking to everyone yesterday.
It was a great turnout to remember Sandy, and wonderful to see most clubs represented. This just shows what he meant to all at Culter and the wider snooker league community.
