Thanks to Culter for hosting the event this year. Also good job with the refereeing Stuart, it's much appreciated. Alan did a fantastic job, the tables were beautiful. He went in at 4pm and cleaned BOTH tables, and remarked them in nice white pen, they looked really good and played nicely, it was much appreciated and a nice gesture to help one of the leagues tournament venues 👍
Derek can be very proud of himself for reaching the final. He had some great wins along the way and has had a fantastic season, well done ✅
On a personal note, it's sad to see the events dying to a degree. An event I watched Mark Gall win initially and always hoped that one day I could do that. Well sadly barring a few 22 club faces, Duncan Will, Mike Reid and Barry Smith(great to see you competing again, classy player), the room was dead sadly. I don't know what's happened...... Derek said he watched some North finals pre covid with like 50+ people spectating and dreamt to one day play in that final. He made it, and it was just eerily quiet and didn't have the old final feel, it's a shame. We need to work out what's wrong, and best option going forward. Needless to say the club bought sandwiches in, 2 full trays and still had loads leftover. Maybe it's just the times and I get everyone can't make everything, myself included but I do miss the old family feel the events had and you realise that now it's gone or most certainly dwindling.
Just remember guys, we have something special with our snooker community up here, be sad for it to disappear.
