Well played tonight paul you were just more clinical than me tnite. That was just an indication that I need much more table time because i got found out unfortunately. All the very best of luck to everyone left in the tournament and thank you to culter for there hospitality see you all next year.

Congratulations to both Marc and Paul on getting through to the final and commiserations to John

what I seen of their match Paul looked to be potting well in between me picking out balls for Marc

should be a new experience for the final tomorrow and look forward to it well done to all who participated

Well done to Marc Davis for winning this year's event a deserved winner. Commiserations to Paul who didnt manage to find his best form in final. Also well done to Stuart Leece who did a great job in refereeing his first final much appreciated. Good performances from Bryan Robson getting to semi finals and also good to see Jamie Mcnolty putting up a good show after a few years away from game. And just like to back up what  Derek said big thanks to Culter club for providing tables and hospitality. John.

Thanks everyone for the messages!!!! Been so many today, woke up this morning to loads. I just want to say it's an absolute honour to take the record of 7 by Derek Hearns winning my 8th North Of Scotland last night. When you bring up snooker in Aberdeen, it seems everyone knew him and Ian Wallace!

I remember as a youngster watching Mark Gall win and thinking I want to be as good as this guy and win the North like him. NEVER did I think I could get close to Derek's record, or win 5 in a row. Just shows what a bit of effort and determination can do.

Hard luck Paul in the final. Shame he didn't find the form he showed against John in the Semi's. I always say, when on form Paul can be lethal. I'd also like to thank Paul for the years of help, and the practice together....it's been brilliant. A few special mentions to others including Paul again - Kenny Cook, John Hamilton, Alec McLeod, Vince Milne etc in my early days for driving me to matches and league nights etc. Tony Dean for sourcing me Intermoor to make my dreams come true competing with the best players in the World and getting up as high as 88 on the PTC European Tour ahead of some big names. Harry Brebner for coming to the likes of Poland and Germany with me was so cool. We nearly beat Judd Trump...very nearly. The link of this match I will attach at the bottom for anyone who hasn't seen it. Harry was good for motivation and as a cameraman with Ron Florax😉!! There are so many people to thank individually. Derek Hudson for the practice also. The cuemakers who have helped me out!! (The last 5 Norths I have won with 5 different cues!!)🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 However I love the one I bought last year from Stuart Green, Green Baize Cues. My current captain Alan Pedalty and the 22Club, along with Kev, Kai, Muz, Chris, Paul. Andy Gerrie for all the late traveling to Glasgow etc. I have enjoyed giving Ritchie Grant lessons lately as it makes me consider my own technique and gets me thinking how to improve my own game. Also a huge thanks to Rileys over the years. There are so many people that I will have forgotten on the spot however I never have forgot. Also the doubters have been a huge help as they motivate you more than anybody.

Last special thanks goes to my family. My nan would have been thrilled to witness last night. My mum for her love when I'm a bit down and support as our past still effects me from time to time, along with her partner Ross. She had it tough losing her husband/dad when I was young so I know she will be proud I chose a good path to go down playing snooker. My brother, my kids, auntie's, uncles, cousins..... everyone. They have all been so supportive of my snooker.

Last but not least, I'd like to dedicate this to my late Grandad, Mike. After a short battle with cancer which came as a huge shock to the family.......I dedicate this to you and Grandma Allison.❤️xx He used to pick me up on a Thursday for a game and aged 12 that was the best hour of the week, snooker night at Ellon Mercury! Only a 2 hour or so round trip after work for him as he lived in Torphins then, so a good egg and a great Grandad. My first opponent 🙂. So it felt fitting last night was a Thursday.

A huge thanks to Culter Mills Social Club for hosting, past and present, well done Sandy. Stuart Leece for refereeing, the committee members I have competed under over the years and finally you guys, the players. It's been a joy playing with and against you all over the years.👍

Best regards,

Marc
