2024/2025 Season Summary and dramatic conclusion
With a 107, astonishing century break, Alec Main led his Oldmachar team mates to a dramatic and decisive 8 – 4 victory over Joint 6th placed: Nigg Bay 2 to conclude the 2024/25 Aberdeen Snooker League season. This drew to a close an extremely tight contest for league glory, with four teams in close contention following 22 Club’s punishing 12-0 victory over Sportsman’s 1 (sorry to mention that Duncan) in the penultimate week of the season. Making Culter 2, with 166, the league leaders going into the last week of the season closely followed by Oldmachar & 22 Club, joint second place with 165 Points, and not too far behind Culter 1 with 164. 22 Club were however unable to continue the white wash into the next week, as they were subject to the level points split of a freeweek, Culter 2 were thwarted by league titans Country Club and held to the wrong side of a 7-5 defeat, despite a valiant effort against Riley’s (formerly Portland), Culter 1 were unable to do better than 22 Club and their 6-6 draw.
Congratulations to Raymond Murray and Stevie Martin who were able to add 2 frames to the league winning total, along with the contribution of frames from Paul Hardy, Jamie McNolty, Mark Oaten and Alec Main, including that epic 107 break. It goes without saying congratulations also go to team members: Ross Crighton, Kenny MacPherson and Graeme Smart.
